You cannot ignore that even weak body structures can add to the rigidity of your race car chassis. By connecting the front and rear fire walls, and A & B pillars to the roll bar frame, this ties the whole in as one solid structure. Then you do not have the car body and roll bar working independently to control body twist.

A roll bar design should stiffen the chassis to make it rigid so that suspension tuning adjustments will have an effect. Even relatively weak bodies can add to chassis rigidity if you tie the body structure to your roll cage. For a drag car it is important to remember that a chassis that can torque up and twist, can be a handfull off the line to try and go straight. Likewise a circuit car or speedway car that does not have a rigid enough chassis will not respond that well to spring rate changes or weight jacking. Proper triangulation of the roll bar structure, X members and roll bar to body tie in pieces all contribute to chassis rigidity to help you go fast and stay in control.
