HOT ROD CHASSIS CROSS MEMBER CONSTRUCTION
Engine mounts and transmission chassis cross members tend to be more successful when they can be easily removed to get the engine and tranny in and out. Kustom Bitz has developed this range of brackets and weld on plates to assist the home builder get that professional finish to their hot rod or custom car.
The thick blank plates can be welded to the chassis rail and they are thick enough to get a good length of tapped thread into them, typically we have sized the hole so you can tap them 1/2" UNF. In each case we have a matching slightly thinner plate that has 1/2" clearance holes for bolting the crossmember in place. So it is a matter of simply welding the crossmember to these bolt on plates, we have various shapes to allow for round or square tube or for 'C' channel, the choice is yours.
Our plates can also be used to join tubular crossmembers together, they are thick and strong and of course if you do not see what you need here we can make it for you. Being able to buy just the brackets on their own allows you to fabricate your own cross memeber to suit your chassis and ride height, we do not subscribe to the theory that one size fits all.
Here are some examples on a home constructed hot rod chassis. Note that they are not fully welded in yet.
